03. writing desk (memoirs of a classroom vandle)
this timber was salvaged from old science labs. This meant the surface ended up being heavily scarred by chemical burns, tripod brandings, compass carvings and lots of graffiti.
The main box functions like an old fashioned lift up school desk once rampant across the U.K. The unique markings have been left unchanged and contrast the hand cut parquetry on the inside, finished with a high gloss shellac polish.

Details - Plane tree veneer, with a traditional French polish finishHand-carved burnt and burnished legs .
Body - Main box constructed from reclaimed school science lab worktops in flamed mahogany.
Interior - Pure British wool felt.
